Your Home, Your Sanctuary

Lately, we’ve been dreaming about a little escape. With everyone’s days filled with the chaotic juggle between managing the kiddos, working from home, and trying to maintain some normalcy, it can be challenging to find adult time.

Our homes have shifted into focus. They are more important to us now than ever before, not just for running our household functionally, but also for giving us a haven during stressful times. A place in your home to relax and enjoy are so valuable now and always. This week, we rounded up our favorite in-home escapes that maximize on space, style, and relaxation.

So shake up that cocktail or grab a glass of vino, we’re taking you on a tour of our favorite home sanctuaries.

A Place to Wine Down

Our Gainesville Project

You might’ve caught this before & after in our Instastories. We’ve gotta say: what a transformation! Our Gainesville clients wanted to freshen up a rarely used dining room, and we delivered. We had the bright idea of turning this room into an adult escape, where the parents of four could retreat after a long day. In this wine room, we were able to maximize on storage by installing floor to ceiling cabinetry along with a wine fridge. Across the room, we installed a wet bar, complete with a sink, fridge and freezer drawers, and a drink station. An added bonus, this room pulls double duty, coffee station by day, wine room by night!

Our Haymarket II Project

Kids aren’t the only ones who need a playroom. Sometimes our kid spaces and adult spaces have to intertwine. We were able to balance the two in our Haymarket II Project. We transformed their basement, into a moody hang out area great for kids and adults alike. Complete with a pool table, two bars, and a comfy place to watch tv, it’s the perfect underground escape at the end of the day.

Bathing Beauties

Our Washington DC Project

A masterpiece of marble, this master bath is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing bath & a bottle of bubbly. Our Washington DC Project needed a complete overhaul of their bath. We used every inch of this bath to create a spa-like escape at home. We kept the finishes light and fresh to give the bath a timeless aesthetic. Whether our clients decide to enjoy a soak in the tub or a steam in the shower, we know they’ll emerge feeling refreshed!

Our Oakton Project

In this pretty master bath from our Oakton Project, the tub took center stage. We framed this beauty with cased molding and swept the tile from floor to ceiling, making it the focal point of the room. Again, we kept the finishes fresh and light to create a peaceful bathroom that’ll last for years to come. Here, our client can relax in the early morning sun, or dim the lights and relax by candlelight.

Mindful Design

Our next two spaces focus on the wellness of mind, not just the body. We’re no strangers to creating a special place for clients to “focus” on connecting with themselves.

Check out our newly installed Gainesville II Project – so new we haven’t photographed yet!

In our recently installed Gainesville II Project, we took a small, unused bedroom and transformed it into a place for our client to meditate and practice yoga. We gave the room a natural and organic element by installing wood on the walls. It was a great way to add texture and warmth to the space, but keep it feeling fresh. To soften the hard edges, we layered a fluffy shag rug, daybed, and meditation cushions in the room. Each element offers a perfect spot to practice deep breathing.

Our Warrenton II Project

Our client from our Warrenton II Project requested a dedicated space to practice mindfulness. We took a little unused nook and made it a quiet place to meditate in privacy. A single cushion and minimal art keep this space simple. We added texture and warmth with the neutral paint color and installed reclaimed wood on the focal wall. It’s our client’s mini sanctuary.
