This blast from the past is back… and better than ever.

Once considered a relic from a bygone era, sculleries are proving just how functional they can be in the modern home. Recently, we teamed up with some of our favorite collaborators to transform my underused, overlooked mudroom into a hardworking scullery that better serves my family, our pups, guests and even shelter visitors.
Since my home is a semi-custom new build, the original mudroom was pretty basic, lacking both aesthetics and functionality. We also desperately needed refrigerator space closer to the kitchen. Running back and forth to the garage was super annoying.
From concept to completion, we partnered with a stellar group to bring this space to life. With paneled Miele fridge and freezer columns, an under-mount sink, ample backup storage and a dedicated feeding and treat station for our doggos, this new scullery has become a space that truly supports the way we live.
The cherry on top? Fabulous blackberry cabinets made by our friend Lukas at Innovative Builds & Remodels, paired with a stunning marble (yes, had to do it) countertop sourced from United Granite LLC.
A total dream come true—and I’ll be honest, a true blessing that’s made daily life at home even better.
What can I say? Designers need good design too.
