How To: Sophisticated Halloween Décor

Happy Halloween, from your resident self-appointed Chancellor of Halloween. Or, as my creepy companions call me, Jackie! Spooky season is here, and boy are we ready! After such a hot girl summer, we’re excited to for a chilly ghoul fall. With the changing of the seasons comes the ever perplexing question: how do I maintain the spirit of Halloween without sacrificing elegant décor? Here are a few tips on how to keep your sense of sophistication throughout the most magical month of the year.

1. Try out jewel tones instead of the more traditional color schemes.

We’re loving the look of a dark scene with blood-curdling shades of ruby, plum, emerald, and rust. Try a monochromatic scheme if you aren’t afraid of color. Varying shades and textures will help bring this look to life. Rather, back from the dead.

2. Don’t be afraid to go goth.

Especially if you already have plenty of dark backdrops to compliment the season. To achieve this look, black metal accents and oddities will be your best friend. Tapered candles, apothecary jars, and textured skulls are a must to get this look. Additional spooky points if you pick up some creepy crawly pals to keep you company as you settle in for a night of ghoulish delights.

3. It’s getting colder, remember to layer up!

Who knew haunted houses could look so good? We suggest picking up as many creepy cloths as possible this year. When paired with some spooky florals, a collection of cursed items, and ominously lit candles, you’re sure to create the bone-chilling display of your dreams.

4. Find whimsical ways to draw the eye up.

Whether its spiders coming out of your air vents or bats escaping your fireplace, we’re always excited to see movement in décor. Anything to convince us you’re having a pest control problem, really.

5. Glam up those pumpkins!

What’s more terrifying than breaking tradition? This season, get creative with your pumpkins. Anything to add a little unexpected glamour to your favorite seasonal decoration!

6. When in doubt, a little mood lighting can go a long way.

This Halloween season don’t be afraid to experiment with ambiance. If you’re noticing your space needs some extra pizzazz, consider tapered candles in varying heights. Nothing says, “There’s definitely not poison in this cocktail, my darling husband,” quite like a beautiful amber glow.
