We’ve got a little Spring Fever, after hearing we’ll be on our “staycation” a tad longer. While it’s not the news we’d wanted, we are going to make the best of it! Warm weather is on the horizon, and it’s got us focusing our attention outside. Look no further than your own backyard, haven’t you heard it’s the latest hot spot?
The backyard is often the most forgotten “room” of your home. Whether you have a deck, patio, or balcony, your outside area has loads of entertainment potential, even if you’re just looking for some fresh air. We’ve got solutions and suggestions for every area. We’re heading outdoors for this week’s blog and sharing ways to make the most of your outdoor space!

All Decked Out
Social Distancing has us spending our days at home, but as we get deeper into spring, we are maximizing our time outside. Lately, we’re thinking about the dreamy spaces we’ve put together for past projects. We’ve even got a few recommendations for changing up your scenery at home!

In our Oakton Project, our clients wanted their covered deck to be an extension of their entertaining space. We created different seating areas to fulfill whatever needs they had. From outdoor cooking & dining, to lounging by the fireplace, we covered all the bases. Wicker was our go-to for dining chairs & bar stools, because of its durability and easy-to-clean quality. Our lounge area features an outdoor sofa & two chairs. Check out those slipcovers! They make washing and wearing easy – those are important qualities when facing outdoor elements.
We blurred the lines between indoor and outdoor living, by dressing the space with drapery, an indoor/outdoor rug, and layers of pillows. We even included custom art, which gives the space a punch of color in some custom art. Our layered look gives us that cozy indoor feel, with all the freshness of the great outdoors. Check out a video of the full space on our Instagram.
Setting the Table
Check out the tablescape from our Haymarket I Project. It adds an extra element of pattern, texture, and interest. We wish we could eat out here all year long.
Dressing up your table adds so much to your dining experience. With nice weather during the day, eating outside provides everyone a chance for a change of scenery. We love a well-dressed table here at EBI. Table décor is the perfect jewelry to our outdoor dining scape. It gives us the chance to accessorize, but don’t be fooled by all that beauty, we get plenty of function from it too! Our outdoor linens & glassware pull double duty. They hold up to dirt, weather, and little hands. Melamine is the trick to pretty & durable dishware for families of any size.

Give your eating area a little love, and your family a night “out”. Some of our go-to sources are at your fingertips. Check out this Marin Organic dish set from Crate & Barrel. You can add some fun and vibrancy to your table with any of their melamine outdoor place settings. Looking for some cost savings? At Home has a similar option in white. Save a little – we won’t tell.
Bird’ s Eye View

Having worked on projects of all shapes and sizes, we know not everyone has the luxury of a backyard. However, we encourage our clients to fully take advantage of any outdoor space they have. Whatever size the space, they don’t have to sacrifice on luxury. In our Arlington Condo Project, we placed a cozy reading chair on our client’s balcony. With the addition of some greenery and a pretty garden stool, it’s the perfect place for reading or catching the city at sunset.
Do you have limited outdoor space? A comfy reading chair or bistro table & chairs could be a great option for you. Make it your new Happy Hour spot after working all day from home. 😉

Who said outdoor seating was only for the backyard? We’ve got a perfect perch for reading a book or catching some Z’s on this front porch swing. Our Warrenton II client wanted one of these babies with a little more privacy. He opted for one under his deck in this backyard. Naturally, we delivered. Looks like a great place to enjoy something shaken or stirred too, catch our drift?
